I fell in love with encaustic painting after taking a workshop in 2009.  Working with encaustic paint is both challenging and engaging. The surfaces are luminous and translucent, and the medium may be worked using heat to blend and apply in a liquid form … or cooled to incise color and carve areas for greater dimension and texture. Derived from beeswax and damar resin, encaustic painting is extremely archival … and was used by Greeks and Egyptians dating back to around 100–300 AD (click here for more details on its history and origin)
